Hegel: Introduction

Hegel: Dialetic; the fundamental pattern of thought

Conclusion: Hegel believed that we do not perceive the world or anything in it directly meaning that we do not reach the truth from anything itself on a single judgment and that all what we have access to of ideas are just images, perceptions, and concepts.

"The goal, however, is fixed for knowledge just as necessarily as the succession in the process. The terminus is at that point where knowledge is no longer compelled to go beyond itself, where it finds its own self, and the notion corresponds to the object and the object to the notion. The progress towards this goal consequently is without a halt, and at no earlier stage is satisfaction to be found. That which is confined to a life of nature is unable of itself to go beyond its immediate existence; but by something other than itself it is forced beyond that; and to be thus wrenched out of its setting is its death. Consciousness, however, is to itself its own notion; thereby it immediately transcends what is limited, and, since this latter belongs to it, consciousness transcends its own self. Along with the particular there is at the same time set up the “beyond”, were this only, as in spatial intuition, beside what is limited." ( page 48)

Premises:
1) Hegel believed that the ideas we have of the world are social, where it has been the outcome of previous ideas shaped through out history by other people in the process he presented on his philosophical ideology.
2) Truth is Not limited to the individuals
3) Collective consciousness shapes ideas and consciousness of each individual where through out history we develop a continuous knowledge from a collective identity we form in the process.

4) An entire society or culture begins with one idea, that evolves into a chain of different ideas through a dialectical pattern Hegel presents.

1 comment:

  1. Premise 4 is thus true, and indeed, one idea passes by cultures, generations, etc., and develops a new established idea. That can have multiple faces or remain the same, and sometimes even could be false idea that just triggered the curiosities of people.
